Step by Step History of the Aula Global Conservation Project
1990 - The Global Classroom idea is born
and fund- raising begins to purchase and protect 100 acres of tropical
rain forest
in Costa Rica.

Rica for research and community service. We begin our search for
the perfect property for research and preservation.
1995 & 1996- Global Classroom's High School "Unyte" program
(Understanding Nature and Yourself Through Experience) wins the Mary
Lyons Educational
Award.
1998 - With the help of hundreds of youth, area businesses,
famous musicians and scores of volunteers, our goal of $50,000 is
met and 100 acres of endangered rain forest is preserved, creating
the Aula Global Reserve.
2000 - Thanks to a grant from the Wilderness Wisdom Fund,
50 Global Classroom volunteers representing six different nations,
gather at Aula Global to begin the construction of the Aula Global
research station.
2000- After 634 hours of carrying materials to the sight and 498
hours of construction, Aula Global Research station is ready to host
it's
first student
group.
2002 - Aula Global is recognized by the Environmental Minister
of Costa Rica as a valuable reserve for many endangered species.
Producing over 40 tons of oxygen annually, Aula Global is a significant
asset to the country and the
world through Carbon Offset.
2003 - Learning of the pending destruction of Old Growth forest
abutting
Aula Global, Global Classroom volunteers begin an all-out effort to raise the
funds needed to preserve this critical biological
